Visual Loop's Maps of the Week

Visual Loop's weekly round-up of Digital Cartography is out. There are some great interactive maps in this week's collection, including a few which regular readers of Google Maps Mania will recognize. I also really like two of the maps I hadn't seen before, one from Brazil and the other from Argentina.

In Argentina the Electoral Nacional has released a list of all public and private political donations to the four main political parties. Andy Dow has used the data to create the 2013 Private Contributions Map, a map showing the locations of over 4,800 political donors.

The donors are displayed on the map with circular map markers. The markers are sized in proportion to the size of the donation and colored to represent the political party donated to.

In Brazil Chega de Fiu Fiu is a campaign against sexual harassment. The campaign has released a Chega de Fiu Fiu Google Map in an attempt to map the most troublesome and dangerous places for women in Brazil.

Women who have suffered harassment or have witnessed sexual harassment can share their experiences by adding a marker to the map.
